Book of the Month: January 2021

thebookfeastblog

Hello fellow feasters!

I am beyond eager to feast on both books and food with you. I would love it if you would join me in reading a book each month, and then I will pair that book with a meal. If you've already read the book, or when you finish it, make sure you don't give it away! But feel free to comment your thoughts on it; I promise I will! But don't worry, I won't spoil it either.

For our first Book of the Month ever, I decided on The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins. I was drawn to this book firstly by the description that it was a modernized version of Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre happens to be my all-time favorite classic novel. If you ever want a full discourse on the history of the Bronte sisters, I'm happy to oblige.

So, in a modern retelling of the classic Jane Eyre, Jane is a broke dog walker in a wealthy area where everyone is too busy with their lives to notice her or the things she does. No one even asks her real name. Of course, all of that changes when she meets the wealthy widower, Eddie Rochester, whose wife perished in a boating accident along with his wife's best friend. Jane begins to fall for her Mr. Rochester, but what will happen if her past, or his, catches up with her?

Join me in reading January's Book of the Month! Then check back in for a review and a Perfect Pairing!
