My name is Albany (yes, like the city). I am a wife and a mom of two who loves to read and loves to cook. I have a degree in English Education, and while I don't drink (and might therefore be lost when it comes to wine pairings), I happen to be pretty good at book and food pairings.

Growing up as the baby of the family, my older brothers usually were up before me, leaving me to crunch on my sugary cereal in the soft light of the mornings all on my own. My parents were big on having homework done the night before, so there was none of that to be done. There was nothing good on tv at that hour, and who wants noise that early in the morning anyway? So as I pulled myself into the table over my bowl of frosted flakes, I always, always, ALWAYS read a book.

This habit of reading while I eat has not escaped me in adulthood, from pouring over novels in the dining hall in college, to grabbing a page here and there at the tail end of lunch while my two small children. As C.S. Lewis so perfectly put it: "Eating and reading are two pleasures that combine admirably." When you can pair the perfect meal with a wonderful book though, THAT is some kind of magic.
